Quality Assurance Engineer (Systems Implementation)

 

Overview

SSP’s Quality Assurance Engineer (Systems Implementation) is responsible for guaranteeing a level of quality to assigned project deliveries. In general, this role (in conjunction with the project team) is responsible for the creation of inspection activities, detection and resolution of problems, and delivery of satisfactory outcomes. Test case creation, execution, analysis, and documentation among other activities are all a part of this role.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Verify that the project deliveries fulfill the requirements and specification documents
  • Help SSP team validate that the delivery satisfies the needs of the customer
  • Perform various types of testing (system, integration, exploratory, etc.)
  • Contribute to creating User Stories and Acceptance Criteria
  • Break down User Stories into tasks (particularly testing tasks)
  • Estimate testing effort associated with SOW, User Stories, and all testing tasks
  • Identify functional and non-functional aspects of the project/product to be tested
  • Define the necessary test levels
  • Create test plans
  • Create and execute test cases
  • Liaise with internal teams to identify system requirements
  • Review SOW, requirement specification, and design documents for consistency and accuracy to provide feedback
  • Enhance communication and collaboration within the team to ensure quality is the responsibility of all
  • Collect and compile statistical quality data
  • Document internal audits and other quality assurance activities
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system
  • Contribute to retrospectives
  • Develop, recommend, and monitor corrective and preventative actions
  • Prepare reports to communicate outcomes of quality activities
  • Cull information and opinions from others
  • Assist with answering RFPs for QA questions
  • Ensure teams are adhering to the company’s testing methodology and QA policy
  • Be an advocate of QA throughout the organization
  • Advocate for constant inspection of process (thinking like a client) with an eye toward improvement
  • Support and mentor all teams on implemented quality control processes

Administrative Tasks:

  • Contribute to the process of creating quality reports by collecting appropriate metrics, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends resulting from service development and implementation activities
  • Contribute to root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements
  • Stay abreast of SI and SSP updates by reading e-mails, meeting minutes, or designated message boards and by attending department and company meetings as assigned
  • Exhibit an aptitude for research, creativity, and learning from past experiences
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Stay current on SSP policies, processes, procedures, and technologies required to perform work duties
  • Perform other work duties as assigned by the Manger of Quality Assurance

General Technical Experience: 

Maintain expert knowledge and use of Microsoft Office products, Confluence, and other SSP specific software. Learn new technology that is introduced in the industry and the organization, as needed. ESRI platform experience and general GIS experience is key to success in this role.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum 3+ years of proven quality assurance work is required.

Physical Requirements:  

Must have the physical ability, stamina, mobility and manual dexterity to support a 5 day a week operation. Work at computer workstations repetitively and for extended periods.
