DENVER, Feb. 08, 2017 — Denton Municipal Electric, via its municipal corporation the City of Denton, Texas, has selected SSP to perform an enterprise-level implementation of Esri’s ArcGIS Online. The use of Web GIS will enable Denton to provide its customers with an efficient web-based application for reporting streetlight outages within the service territory.
This project will expose and collect data from the public via SSP’s standard recommended architecture. This Web GIS architecture will provide the foundation for streetlight reporting as well as all future Esri ArcGIS Online projects. These future projects are likely to include customer engagement, field inspections, public outage maps and other use cases.
Projected Effects of Streetlight Outage Reporting for Denton Municipal Electric
The initial project, reporting streetlight outages, will drive notifications of other systems and/or personnel. This will also feed a public-facing streetlight outage map for better customer communication. The project is slated to begin in March.
Based in the Dallas area, Denton Municipal Electric (DME) is Denton’s customer-owned electric utility. Since 1905, DME has provided safe, reliable, and cost-effective electricity to the citizens of Denton.
