Memphis Light Gas & Water has hired SSP for a new implementation project to provide the development and pilot of a gas asset field data collection system. The system will allow for scanning of material as it’s installed by MLGW construction and maintenance personnel, as well as the automated transfer of the data into the enterprise GIS.
The project will consist of the implementation of the Trimble Field Inspector Solution as well as custom functionality, and will ultimately improve the quality of as-built information in the GIS and that of the data the helps determine MAOP and DIMP calculations.
MLGW is the nation’s largest three-service municipal utility, serving nearly 421,000 customers. Since 1939, MLGW has met the utility needs of Memphis and Shelby County residents by delivering reliable and affordable electricity, natural gas and water service.
The project is slated to begin in February.
