DENVER, May 03, 2013 — Intermountain Rural Electric Association (IREA) congratulated SSP Innovations with a certificate of completion on May 3rd, 2013 after the successful completion of the SSP All Edits State Zero (AES0) project. This project was kicked off in January of 2013 and focused on extracting all of IREA’s Telvent Designer™ versions, deleting the versions, compressing the database, re-projecting the data from NAD 27 to NAD 83 and then recreating all of the Telvent Designer™ versions from scratch while re-synching the Telvent design XML. This challenging effort is described in more detail here. The production implementation was completed on April 21st, 2013 and the core team held a celebratory lunch this afternoon:

IREA presented SSP with a Certificate of Completion plaque as this is the first known effort of this type to be completed successfully in our industry.

The bottom of the plaque shows the Esri Geodatabase State Tree with all 242 versions recreated from State 0 after the reprojection was completed. The text reads:

SSP Innovations, LLC successfully moved IREA’s versioned ArcGIS geodatabase with 242 production versions, to State 0 and subsequently transformed the geodatabase from NAD27 projection to NAD83 projection without loss of verion information. This effort, utilizing reusable and scalable methods, is believed to be the first successful attempt of its kind.

SSP is very excited to call this project a complete success. SSP’s project manager, Dennise Ramirez, will be publishing an Energy Advisor case study this month on how the process worked and the results including a look at the performance of the application. Stay tuned for more…

This represents a huge milestone in the way we administer our GIS geodatabases and versions. I believe this is just the start for this innovative process and SSP is at the forefront of this technology. Congratulations, this is a big advancement for our industry.
