10 years have passed since the series of incidents that precipitated a rule change in the Federal Pipeline Safety Regulation. The response: The Gas Mega Rule, which became effective on July 1, 2020, established a new set of rules for pipeline operators to a safer pipeline ecosystem.

GIS now plays a much larger role in helping operators enhance their integrity management programs to meet the new requirements. Additionally, GIS is now used as a system of record for attributes that support MAOP calculation/reconfirmation.
