WFM Systems Integration

Significant value can be added to SSP WFM by integrating it with your existing operational systems. SSP has worked with a number of utilities to integrate many different applications. Some examples are shown below, though this list is certainly not exhaustive. If you have quesitons on this topic, please contact us for more information.  Systems Integration

  • GIS Integration: One of the key benefits of SSP WFM is its pre-integration to Telvent Designer™ and Esri ArcGIS. When performed outside of a WFM implementation, this complex integration alone can often range in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. WFM utilizes GIS to validate addresses, locations, and other spatial data and seamlessly passes work requests into the Designer™ software to allow for graphical CU-based designs and as-builting. Please view the GIS integration page for more information on the pre-integration. Additional integration points can be implemented as needed... after all, GIS is our middle name.
  • Customer Information System (CIS): This is a very common integration point to SSP WFM. Allowing data to flow from your CIS into your WFM will allow work orders/requests to be linked to customer records via address, phone, account number, or various other fields. Once the work has been linked, updates can be passed back into CIS if needed. SSP has built integrations to various CIS systems including Indus Banner, Northstar, and several homegrown mainframe CIS applications.
  • Outage Management System (OMS): As utilities embrace new technology, one of the key tools they realize immediate benefit from is an OMS, which allows them to manage incoming outage or trouble calls, run predictive analysis to determine network failure points, to dispatch crews and manage the incidents through completion. SSP has enabled integrations to OMS to allow for trouble tickets and other operaional work orders to be automatically entered into SSP WFM.
  • Accounting - Plant Accounting / General Ledger: SSP has learned the ins and outs of capturing data for use in various accounting formats. Often we've been responsible for tracking compatible unit codes for each asset type which are also then tied to FERC, CPR, and/or plant account codes. We are then able to track data based on installations and retirements and to subsequently export either transaction-level/summary-level reports or raw data exports that can be consumed by an accounting system. This data is used to update Continuing Property Records (CPR), the General Ledger, and/or the Cost of Work in Progress (CWIP).
  • Enterprise Asset Management (EAM): Assets are estimated, designed, and as-built within the WFM application and therefore WFM can pass asset installations and retirements to an EAM along with the key required data. Further integration can be performed to allow work orders covering cyclical inspections and maintenance to be created automatically from within an EAM. This integration may or may not touch the GIS to spatially enable the process. Example EAM systems include IBM Maximo, Oracle WAM, Oracle EAM, JD Edwards Fixed Asset module, and Cascade.
  • Document Management System: SSP WFM includes its own document management system tied to the work orders but can also be integrated to an external document management system. This can sometimes be as simple as using a hyperlink to get to a specific directory or file but can also be much more complex when using a document management system API to query and access the document libraries. SSP has worked with a variety of custom document management systems as well as Documentum - AppXtender/WebXtender and assorted Microsoft SharePoint document management add ons.
  • Inventory/Material Management: SSP WFM is often integrated to an inventory or material management/warehousing system to allow for approved work orders to automatically reserve and/or order materials for a job. Data can be transferred to an external system at either the CU- or the stock item-level and can be organized in varying formats. WFM can also release/return materials that were marked as not used once the as-built materials are collected within the WFM workflow process.
  • Mobile Dispatch: Many utilites have existing mobile dispatch systems in place for digitally communicating work orders to the trucks. By using WFM's configurable and customizable workflow process, work orders can be easily sent to external systems via integration. Additionally, WFM can accept updates to the work orders from the mobile dispatch such as status updates, as-built information or other job-specific data.
