  • New SSP Team Members - Eric Klein & Scot Twining

    Two new team members joined the SSP team in August including our new Director of Operations, Eric Klein, who will be heading up all internal operations for the company, and Scot Twining as a new Senior Consultant who will be working on SSP's projects. Twining joins SSP with past experience at GeoFields and brings a wealth of Esri and product management experience to the group. Both new team members will be based out of SSP's central office in Englewood, CO.

  • SSP Implements Telvent Fiber Manager™ at Digital West, Oconee County, and CDOT

    SSP Innovations has successfully implemented Telvent Fiber Manager™ within three different organizations during the first half of 2012. The Colorado Dept of Transportation in Golden, CO selected SSP to assist with analyzing their current Fiber Manager™ network, to re-implement the software, and to provide additional training. SSP then managed a fully implementation and training for Oconee County, SC. Finally SSP performed a full implementation at Digital West Networks in San Luis Obispo, CA, including both core Esri ArcGIS and Telvent Fiber Manager™. SSP has worked to become proficient in the implementation, configuration, and customization of Fiber Manager as an extension to the Telvent-related work already being offered.

  • Burbank Water & Power Selects SSP for New GIS Enhancements

    Burbank Water & Power (BWP), located in Burbank, CA has chosen SSP Innovations to work with them on implementing a number of new GIS enhancements including new high-powered searches within ArcMap geared toward their outage management dispatchers, a new GIS interface to their Banner CIS, and an implementation of SSP's Nightly Batch Suite. BWP services 45,000 households and 6,000 businesses in Burbank with water and electricity.

  • Tri-State Generation & Transmission Selects SSP for ArcGIS for Server Work

    Tri-State Generation & Transmission has selected SSP Innovations to perform a number of updates to their Esri ArcGIS Server Silverlight application. SSP will be working with on the project with Black & Veatch (formerly Enspiria Solutions). The work will include re-writes to the ArcGIS Server application as well as adding new functionality. Work is set to begin in late June. Tri-State is a wholesale electric power supplier generating and transmitting electricity to its member systems throughout a 200,000 square-mile service territory across Colorado, Nebraska, New Mexico and Wyoming.

  • SSP Presents on Upgrades to Standing Room Only Crowd at TUG

    SSP's Skye Perry performed a presentation entitled "Upgrading to Arc 10: Avoid the Pitfalls, Reap the Benefits" to a crowd of over 100 GIS personnel at the 2012 Telvent Utility Group conference in Fort Collins, CO. The session covered in-depth technical detail on upgrading an entire GIS to the 10.x environment, including specific tips on upgrading the database, the product software, and the customizations. It included a bevy of advice from the upgrades the SSP team has performed. You can view the slides from the presentation here.   • EWEB Selects SSP for ArcGIS Server Silverlight Customizations

    The Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) has selected SSP to perform a number of ArcGIS Server Silverlight customizations. These customizations will be performed within the context of EWEB's ArcFM Server™ implementation and will focus on making the tool more usable and integrating it to other EWEB intranet applications. Work with EWEB will begin in April. The Eugene Water & Electric Board is Oregon's largest customer-owned utility and provides electricity and water to more than 86,000 homes, businesses, schools and other customers in Eugene, Oregon.

  • Southern Company Hires SSP to Provide Custom BRP Improvement

    SSP has been hired by Southern Company to provide a number of key improvements to their existing batch reconcile & post process. The project will include a custom implementation of SSP's All Edits Reporting & QA Tool to capture all the edits that have occurred in a session/design, plus several pieces of additional functionality. SSP began work in January.

    CoServ, a 130,000-member-owned electric cooperative based in Corinth, TX has selected SSP to perform GIS upgrades to version 10 of the Esri and Telvent software. Through its committed business partnership with GIS-industry leaders Swova, SSP will upgrade ArcFM™, Designer™, Responder™, Geodatabase Manager™, ArcFM™ Replication and ArcFM Viewer™, as well as perform customizations and systems integration to WMS, CIS, SCADA and IVR systems. SSP also performed CoServ's previous upgrade to version 9.3.1.

  • SSP Presents Two Papers to Large Audiences at 2011 EGUG Conference

    At this year's Esri Electric and Gas User Conference, SSP's own Skye Perry and John Garrett of Garland Power & Light (TX) presented "GIS-Integrated Work Management for Small Utilities," which showcases the functionality of the company's popular new software, Workforce Management. Perry also teamed with Arnisa Davis and Steve Veltman from Memphis Light Gas and Water (MLGW) to discuss "Maximizing GIS Performance in Your Sleep" which covers functionality found in SSP's Nightly Batch Suite. Both talks were highly attended at the conference, which was held in October in Columbia, SC.

  • Principal Consultant Jeff Mertz Joins SSP Innovations

    SSP has added another talented principal consultant to the SSP team, Jeff Mertz. Mertz has worked alongside many of the SSP staff members at previous companies dating back to Convergent Group. Most recently he has worked with AutoDesk and HP designing and implementing custom software solutions. Mertz brings extensive utility, GIS, and consulting experience to the team and will also lead up SSP's direction into new technologies.

  • Central Lincoln PUD Hires SSP to Perform Systems Integrations Work

    This small utility in the Northwest has brought SSP on to create a custom data export which will help integrate their GIS system to a new outage management system (OMS). Central Lincoln PUD is based in Newport, Oregon and provides power to over 38,000 customers. Work on the project begins in October.

  • Telvent Announces Partnership With SSP Innovations and Esri to Provide Work Management System to Small- and Mid-Sized Utilities

    Telvent has announced a partnership with SSP and Esri to provide SSP's Workforce Management software to small- and mid-sized utilities in need of the major benefits of a centralized work management system for a minimal cost.     SSP Innovations launched its new monthly e-zine, Energy Advisor, in June 2011. Energy Advisor is an email sent to a secured list of subcribers, containing helpful articles, tools, hints and sample code with the goal of helping utility personnel do their job better.   • Alliant Energy & IREA Choose SSP All Edits Report For Analyzing Versions

    Both Alliant Energy (WI) and IREA (CO) chose SSP's All Edits Report & QA Tool to allow their users to analyze the edits to their Esri versions and Telvent Sessions/Designs. The SSP All Edits tool provides both a textual and graphical interface for viewing adds, updates, and deletes in any version within the GIS. Utilities with larger sets of users have found the tool to be very useful in managing their QA process.

  • SSP Innovations Announces New-Hire Corey Blakeborough

    A recent graduate from the University of Northern Colorado, Blakeborough earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration: Computer Information Systems and worked as lead web developer for UNC's Monfort College of Business.
