Celebrating 5 Years Writing for the Utility and Telecommunication Industries!

Can you believe it's been half a decade that we've been writing utility and telecommunication articles?! We certainly can't!

Not even Skye (our Founder) was aware of the achievement when I brought it up to him. His unawareness, to me, is a testament to the head's down effort of everyone at SSP. Being the Director of Marketing for SSP, I'm over the moon. This is a fantastic milestone. To everyone else in the company, they had no idea. They just pump out great client work (as well as great blog posts).

To provide some background, our initiative was to help the developer community one post at a time. Educating and enabling our readers to be more effective at their job. We feel this one comment from Alliant, describes it perfectly: "I think you're monthly new newsletter really helps to educate users and keep them up to date with GIS. Keep up the good work!!"

Just in case you may be confused by the nomenclature, our monthly newsletter (called Energy Advisor) highlights 6 blog posts on our blog. We have additional blog posts on our blog that are not featured in the Energy Advisor, so make sure you visit our blog regularly!

While we achieved our goal, we've been humbled by the response over the years. Countless times at conferences around the country, we've been approach by strangers who have thanked us for what we're doing and that our monthly e-zine is the one email they look forward to.

One individual even approached us saying that he keeps our versioning blog series printed out in his briefcase so he can access it at any time!

It's those types of responses and stories that keep us going and make it all worth it.

Where do we go from here? What do the next five years hold? Well, as we've done in the past, we want to know your thoughts on what you'd like to see. We're not writing for ourselves. We're writing for you. So, in the near future, expect to receive a survey asking for your opinion.

As well, expect a redesigned Energy Advisor in Q2 of next year.  New look, same great taste! ...I mean same great content!

One change we're going to make immediately may surprise some of you. To ease the amount of information we're pushing out each month, we're going to reduce the quantity of blog posts per month from 6 to 4.

Why? Like you, we also receive countless emails to our inboxes. Emails come in that you/we want to read, but work and life get in the way and before you know it, you have loads of emails that you know you need to read, but can't get around to. By reducing the count to 4, we're hoping more of you can get through all the great content each month without it back loading.

We have made some other changes as of recent. Based on your feedback for video content, we started a YouTube channel. Beyond our amazing music video, we have put out a series of SSP Whiteboard Videos. The format of those videos couldn't be simpler: an SSP expert in front of a whiteboard, explaining industry topics. Basically a video blog...a vlog, if you will.

Also based on your feedback, we've been flirting around the idea of a podcast as well. We're not sure the timeline on this, but let us know if this something you'd really like to see.

Back to our basics though:  do you have any feedback for us, or other topics you'd like to see us write on?  Perhaps topics explained on the whiteboard? We'd love to hear it! All you have to do is leave a comment below or reach out to us on our Contact Us page.

Well there you have it.  Our 5 years has been a phenomenal success and we can't wait to see what unfolds over the next 5 years!
